About Mothering Justice

Mothering Justice is a grassroots, women-of-color-led organization working to shift policies and culture to create the conditions for mothers of color, birthing people, and caregivers in Michigan to thrive. We focus on economic, racial, and gender justice through issue education, leadership development, and community organizing. Our core program areas include advancing the Mama’s Agenda, our community-generated policy priorities around reproductive justice/Black Maternal Health, affordable childcare, healthcare access, and basic needs.

Mission

To ensure that Black and Brown mamas have the knowledge, voice, and resources to shape the policies and systems that impact their lives, rooted in collective care, justice, and long-term equity.

Vision
To build one of the largest and most influential networks of Black and Brown mothers, caregivers, and birthing people in the country—driving systemic policy change and transforming communities through leadership, organizing, and advocacy. â€‹

Theory of Change
The experiences of Mothers of color must be at the center of policy, organizing, and communication. We must center their voices in order to address the health and economic disparities they face in America.
