Dr. Keiondra J. Grace is the Director of Research at Mothering Justice, where she leads research that centers the voices of mothers of color. This research aims to understand their unique needs and challenges, informing our initiatives and policy advocacy. Her passion for this work stems from her gratitude to the Black women who have provided caregiving for her throughout her life. She holds a PhD in Sociology with an emphasis on Black feminist frameworks for understanding. As a Black feminist scholar, she believes that theory and practical action must be combined to alleviate inequity and empower communities. She has honed her theoretical knowledge through roles within the wrongful conviction program at WMU and her graduate fellowship work. She has engaged in practical action through many nonprofit organizations, including work as a housing coordinator and serving as the director of a domestic violence shelter. Dr. Grace blends her knowledge from both spheres to advocate for meaningful and sustainable change, driven by her commitment to uplifting those historically placed at the margins of our society.
